China News on March 13Italian police on Tuesday seized a superyacht belonging to Russian billionaire Andrei Igorevich Melnichenko, the press office of the Prime Minister’s office said, euronet quoted THE European Union News agency as reporting.A few days ago, Mr Melnichenko was added to the EU sanctions list.The 143-metre-long SAILING YACHT A, with A price tag of €530 million, was seized by police in the port of Trieste in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Italian police said, according to reports.Mr Melnichenko owns Eurochemicals, a big fertiliser maker, and SUEK, the world’s biggest integrated energy company.Mr Melnichenko has resigned from the boards of both companies, the companies said in statements.Melnichenko’s spokesman, Alex Andreyev, says his businessman has nothing to do with the situation in Ukraine and that he has no political background.Andreyev said there was no reason to put him on the EU sanctions list.Italian police have seized villas and yachts worth more than 700 million euros since last week from prominent Russians on the EU sanctions list, Italian Economy and Finance Minister Daniel Franco said Monday.(Huang Xin) Source: China News Network
